The CAM EXPO is the UKs largest complementary therapy and alternative medicine show and attracted over 5000 visitors throughout the 2-day event covering education, innovations, natural remedies, superfoods and new therapy techniques. The holistic therapists, doctors, health specialists, nutritionists, manufacturers and health retailers shared, learned and demonstrated the importance of taking responsibility for our own health while considering natural health solutions.
Joining Hands for Health is an independent, non profit campaign intending to encourage everyone to consider a more natural way of life, using natural solutions where possible. Currently they are fighting the fearful, secretive behaviour of the EU, which is attempting to ban vitamins, minerals, herbal remedies, superfoods and therapies.
The law has been seeping into UK & European legislation since January 2010 and comes into full force in April 2011. It's not too late to sign the petition.

- If the EU legislation is successful tried and tested products like collodial silver, vitamin C, zinc, acupuncture, herbal essences, flower remedies and known super foods will all become unavailable.
But in order to ensure that natural foods and remedies are governed by law and not victim to quirks and fads claiming false health cures, the Joining Hands for Health campaign urges the UK Government to establish an independent legal framework for natural foods and herbal supplements.
New and independent health framework
Joining Hands for Health propose products are clearly labeled so consumers have the right to choose and should include:
- Health Claims - official recognition for known 'health benefits' - traditional, authentic testimonials or scientific research - and legalize the promotion of these 'health claims'; (including 1939 Cancer Act)
- Informed Consumer Choice - reveal the full TRUTH on the 'health benefits & side-effects' of both natural supplements & synthetic drug medications, to enable consumers to make 'informed choices' from which to take responsible control and manage their own health
- Natural meaning - produced from nature without scientific interference
- Synthetic meaning - produced from man-made, artificial materials
- Accurate labels - all foods whether fresh or processed should be clearly and accurately labeled - declaring GM, irradiated and all artificial ingredients
- Affordable Healthcare - integrate the natural & synthetic industries and make healthcare affordable and eradicate the postcode lottery to offer fair treatment for everyone
- Research funding - fund all research to substantiate authentic health benefits
- Marketing Authorization (Medical license fees) - abolish the existing registration & license fees on herbal foods/remedies &supplements
Regulating bodies
Throughout the world, there are already a huge quota of federations, organisations and associations that regulate complementary therapies and assess whether they are abiding by law. These governing bodies give the consumer / patient trust - dealing with a professional in a professional industry with stringent standards.
