Save turtles with a stylish new bag

Every year, across the globe, we humans get through 1,000,000,000,000  - that’s one trillion – plastic bags. And to add to that horror, each bag takes up to 1,000 years to break down.
So in a bid to get our shopping home without increasing our waste, TurtleBags have developed a novel way of looking good while saving turtles at the same time. They are so ‘IN’ even Vogue is featuring them.

Why turtles? Because as plastic carrier bags are discarded and blown about in the wind, they end up in sewers, streams and rivers and arrive in the sea. Leatherback turtles heading for UK waters mistake them for jelly fish, try to eat them but sadly suffocate instead.
TurtleBags employ the skills of women in fair trade collectives in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who make the bags out of a variety of materials including cement sacks, cotton and woven textiles. The bags are durable, tough and built with comfort in mind.
And for the eco-conscious laptop carrying amongst us, they also make great laptop bags. Throw away the boring black brief case and swap it for a funky, colouful comfy shoulder bag.
The bags are all well priced – the string bags a snip between £3 and £5 – and they fold up really small so are easy to take out. The trolleys come with telescopic handles and sell for around £17, while laptop bags are £13.
