Water detox for body and mind

The joy of (over) eating and drinking is often accompanied by stress - be it mental or physical - so we need to drink plenty of water to flush out impurities and keep ourselves hydrated.

Our brains comprise 70% water. Our blood is made up of 83% water.
The bloodstream delivers essential nutrients to the brain, and if we deprive it of the required water intake, by drinking alcohol or caffeine, we suffer mentally and physically.

BODY STRESS
Minor dehydration results in thirst, headaches and dizziness, and if left unchecked, the body turns to the bloodstream for a water top up.

This puts pressure on the heart and prevents the kidneys from purifying the blood.
Other organs, such as the liver, then have to take on extra work and the result is body stress such as constipation, urinary tract infections, coughs, sinus problems, acne and dry skin.

MENTAL STRESS
When we are even slightly dehydrated we can feel sluggish, we lack concentration, and we are not fully alert. Continued dehydration can lead to fatigue, depression, tension and anxiety.

WHAT TO DO
•    Drink approx 8 glasses (2 litres) of filtered, ionized or alkaline water every day - this can be cold, warm or in an herbal tea. (You will wee more initially, but the body soon adjusts!)

THE BENEFITS
•    Increased brain activity, mental alertness and concentration
•    Glowing complexion and clear skin
•    Less cellulite
•    Renewed energy
•    Stimulated kidneys, liver and digestive system which detoxifies the whole body
•    A boost to our metabolism which accelerates the elimination of toxins and fat
•    Fewer headaches, aches and pains

As well as drinking water regularly, you can have steam baths and saunas to improve your health. By taking the plunge and increasing your water intake, you will witness the difference in your daily life.
